WWTP operation and maintenance for a dairy producer in Belgium
Trevi operates and maintains the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) of an international dairy producer in Belgium, which combines a dissolved air flotation (DAF) unit with biological treatment. Over a 10-year contract, Trevi manages daily monitoring and has upgraded the plant to cut operating costs.
The challenge: efficient long-term operation of an ageing WWTP
The dairy producer needed efficient long-term operation and maintenance of its existing WWTP over a 10-year period. Sludge treatment had to become more cost-efficient, and outdated, energy-intensive equipment needed replacing. Emergency response systems also had to be adapted to current operational needs.
Our solution: daily management combined with targeted upgrades
- • Daily monitoring and maintenance of the WWTP, managed by Trevi
- • A new sludge dewatering system to reduce operational costs
- • Screw conveyors replaced with centrifugal pumps
- • A larger ferric chloride (FeCl₃) storage tank and energy-efficient blowers
- • Optimised and modernised emergency response procedures
The result: lower costs and a plant fit for current needs
The DAF and biological treatment continue to remove solids, organics and nutrients from the dairy wastewater under Trevi's daily management. The new sludge dewatering system and upgraded equipment reduce operational costs, and emergency procedures now match current site requirements.
